\n\nFor many years, maybe decades, my great-great grandmother Hanna Charlotte Redschlag<\/a> was one of my major brick walls. Research was difficult due to various spellings of her maiden name and unclear information on where she was born. Even when I was able to clear up those problems, I could not find any records at any of my usual sources.\n\n<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually, I did get some clarification on where she was born — \nBlockwinkel, Landsberg, Brandenburg, Prussia. Further digging at Family\n Search revealed that this former eastern Germany town is located in \nwhat is now Poland. The Polish name of the town is Bolemin, Deszczno, \nGorz\u00f3w, Lubusz, Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took me awhile to learn how to use some of the Polish genealogy \nweb sites, but I eventually found a web site that looked promising. The\n website Genealogisches Archiv Georg Gr\u00fcneberg<\/a>\n includes data and records for the East German district of \nLandsberg\/Warthe. Remarkedly, I learned that the web site owner, Georg \nGrueneberg, also has relatives from the same town where Hanne Charlotte \nwas born. He provided me a list of documents that were available for \nHanna Charlotte Redschlag and Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Stein and other \nmembers of their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, I have only purchased a few of the many documents that he was\n able to identify for the Redschlag and Stein families. As time and \nfunds permit, I will purchase more documents to expand my knowledge of \nthis part of my ancestral family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Georg Gr\u00fcneberg did pass on one interesting piece of information about the home town of Hanne Charlotte Redschlag. He stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is interesting to know that the old church had 2 doors\n next to each other. A door for the community Blockwinkel and a door \nfor the community Plonitz. My Grueneberg family lived there too.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Die Pathen waren 1) Wirth\n Gottlieb Hanisch, 2) Jungfer Charlotte Fitzke, 3) Junggesell Wilhelm \nKlug, 4) Frau Christine Schulz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
